James River Group was founded by key members of the Front Royal management team.  James River is a specialty property and casualty insurance company with a focus on the excess and surplus lines segment.  Virginia Capital and other co-investors provided the company’s initial equity contribution.  After going public, James River merged with a Bermuda based insurance company in December 2007 and subsequently went private.
