Storage Management (Self-Storage Facilities)

Storage Management owns and operates self-storage facilities.  The company and its affiliates own and operate more than a dozen self-storage facilities in the Mid-Atlantic.  Virginia Capital and management co-founded Storage Management to take advantage of growth opportunities that existing companies could not capitalize on.  Storage Management sold in 2005 for more than fourteen times cash flow.  Virginia Capital was the company’s first institutional investor.

 

Car Pool (Full-Service Car Washes)

Car Pool is the largest chain of full service car washes in Virginia.  The company owns and operates seven locations in the Richmond metropolitan market.  The company also provides professional detail services.  Car Pool, a 30-year old Richmond brand, is one of the most widely recognized commercial names in its market.  The company is expanding by opening new locations.  Virginia Capital implemented a sale-leaseback transaction which paid down debt and returned nearly all of our capital.  We were the company’s first institutional investor.

 

American Exposition Centers (Exposition Centers)

American Exposition Centers acquires, develops, owns and operates exposition centers in the southeastern United States.  The company sold its assets in Happy's Exposition Center in July 2007.  Virginia Capital was the company’s first institutional investor.  

 

Cornett Hospitality (Casual Dining Restaurants)

Cornett Hospitality was created through the merger of nine affiliated restaurant companies.  Cornett’s management team previously built and sold the largest chain of Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants in the Mid-Atlantic.  The company owns and operates 15 casual dining restaurants in Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.  Cornett is growing by opening new restaurants.  Virginia Capital was the company’s first institutional investor.

 

Mid-Atlantic Dairy Queen (Dairy Queen Restaurants)

Mid-Atlantic Diary Queen owns the largest chain of Dairy Queen restaurants in the Mid-Atlantic.  Two of the company’s twelve restaurants are consistently among the leading revenue producers in the entire 6,000 International Diary Queen restaurant system (owned by Berkshire Hathaway).  The company is growing by opening new restaurants.  Virginia Capital was the company’s first institutional investor.
